 |
The city is connected well by various mode
of transportation like bus service, train and metro services.
By Car
Car hire is relatively cheap in Mallorca with a wide spectrum
of Car hire companies providing services all around the city.
Driving is stress-free with the exception of some of the windier
mountain roads. Book your car hire in advance from the best
car hire companies. You can book at the airport terminal or
even at the taxi stand. Traveling to the nearby places by
car can be a wonderful experience.
By Bus
If staying in Pt. Pollenca or Alcudia you can use the local
bus service to get to and from the S'Albufera and Albufereta.
Buses run about every 20 minutes, throughout the day with
the exception of the siesta period. Buses are considered to
be the cheapest mode of transportation, however if you have
less time than it is advisable to hire a car or taxi.
By Train
The train station is located in Plaza de España, directly
in the centre of Palma city. The main train route runs from
Palma to Inca. The journey takes about about 45 minutes and
stops at a few stations along the way. The train runs on the
hour and every half an hour during rush hour.
There is also a charming old style train, which connects Palma
to Soller. During this hour long journey, you will discover
a picturesque and romantic Mallorca - Beautiful landscapes,
13 tiny tunnels, and the Tramuntana mountain range are all
part of this 36 kilometre journey.
Price: A round-trip ticket costs 1,115 ptas
By Taxi
There are many taxi stands in the city, although the easiest
option is to hail a taxi on the street. A taxi with a green
light is Available For Use - If there is no light it is Occupied
Always make sure that you confirm the fare with the driver
first, especially on cross-island trips, which can often be
relatively expensive.
Scooter/Bike
Be master of your own time, hire Motorbikes, Scooters, and
Bicycles, and discover Mallorca. There are large selections
of various types of Bicycles, 125cc and 50cc Scooters plus
Motorbikes for hire by the day or week. You can hire one for
getting around between the locations. You can easily ride
to places like the Arta Mountains and other distant locations.
Mallorca is famous for all the bike riders visiting the inland,
meaning that the locals know that they can meet a cyclist
around the corner. Prices for renting a bike vary a lot, so
it might be worth shopping around for the best price.
To drive away a scooter or motorbike all you need is your
passport and driving license.
