The Knock international airport is served by more
than a few mode of transportation like best car hire services, trains
and taxi services.
By Car
The town is served by most of the internationally renowned car hire
services available at Knock International Airport. You can make
your reservations on-line on their websites or call the telephone
numbers. Few of the Car Hire service providers have agreements with
certain Airlines and may offer special rates. Check with your Airline
while booking your car hire.
By Bus
Knock International Airport in conjunction with their alliance Bus
Eireann offers shuttle bus services between Knock Airport &
Charlestown, which links to the Bus Eireann network. Bus Eireann
is the nationwide public transport company that provides bus service
around the city. Expressway long distance coach services link cities
and towns in Ireland. There are Bus Eireann/Euro lines coach services
to Britain and Europe too and local and rural bus services throughout
the country. The city bus services in Cork, Galway, Limerick, and
Waterford while the town services run in Athlone, Drogheda, Dundalk,
Navan, and Sligo.
By Rail
The nearest railway station from Knock International Airport is
Claremorris (31 km) or Ballyhaunis (22km). Both of these towns can
be accessed by local taxi or bus services
Intercity services run from Dublin’s Heuston and Connolly
Stations to Belfast, Sligo, Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick,
Ennis, Tralee, Cork, Waterford, and Rosslare Europort. Rail service
also runs between Rosslare Europort and Limerick; Cork and Tralee;
and Cork and Limerick.
There are 87 InterCity stations in Ireland. Services are divided
into Standard and Super standard Classes. Trains also have smoking
and non-smoking carriages, although the Belfast/Dublin service is completely non-smoking.
By Taxi
Specific taxicabs are licensed by Knock International Airport and
are available outside the Terminal Building. These cabs provide
taxi services to/from the Airport to destinations within the region,
complimenting bus, rail, and car hire transportation. Rate estimate
of €1.30 per mile, are cash fares, and may vary with distance.
