The worldwide gay pride celebration, Christopher Street Days (CSD),
is celebrated in Hamburg with a fair by the River Elbe at Landungsbrücken,
a big parade that passes through the city center, and, on the final
day, a Pride Party. Familiar artists, along with outstanding DJs
add to the festivities.
HAMBURG DOM….July 25 - August 8
Northern Europe’s biggest and most popular fair has been attracting
visitors with its rides and exciting entertainment for over 650
ALSTERVERGNÜGEN….August 28 - August 31
Every year, at the end of August, the entire area around the Innen
Alster Lake transforms into a giant party venue for Hamburg’s
biggest Folk Festival. This family festival includes attractions
such as fireworks, live music, shopping, and almost every kind of
food and beverage imaginable.
HAMBURG MUSIKFEST….September 13 - 22
An absolute must for classical music lovers, this annual music festival—featuring
top orchestras, ensembles and choirs from Germany and abroad—takes
place in the lovely neo-Baroque Musikhalle.
Every year since 1997, the city celebrates its string of galleries
and museums know as the “Art Mile” with this special
event. Six museums open their doors from 10 am until midnight. In
addition to the regular exhibitions, visitors can take part in special
events and visit the museum workshops.
ST. MICHAELIS BACH WEEKS ….November
Internationally renowned musicians perform at this annual classical
music festival in the beautiful St. Michaelis Church. A diverse
musical program ranges from events for children on Sunday afternoon,
to organ nights, dance performances, and brass concerts accompanied
by St. Michaelis’ Choir. Theme night, featuring works by Bach
and other famous composers, are particularly popular.
