Location: 10 Kilometers north east of the city, on the A4
(was NIV) motorway to
Cordoba and Madrid at km 533.
The airport of Seville was built to organize an air show
and for the debut flight between Africa and Europe in 1914.
What one sees today as an airport was built in 1989.
This design of this airport was conceived by the famous architect
Rafael Moneo. He was very conscious of the three most prominent
aspects of Seville; the mosque, the magnificent palace and
the lush orange trees surrounding the airport area. Seville
Airport has only one runway, 3,360 by 45 meters. The hourly
facility is that of 28 movements. The apron has a capacity
to hold 23 aircrafts. The passenger movement across the airport
has been phenomenal, 2.7 million passengers traveled across
the Seville airport during 2004 and this figure has been increasing
by approximately 15% annually.
INFORMATION AND HELP DESKS
The information counters are placed at the Arrivals and Departures
halls along with tourist information counter in the Arrivals
hall to assist with further travel plans and flight details.
An information desk is sited at the check-in area; another
one, in the Departures areas when the airport is busy.
AIRPORT FACILITIES
Money and communications:
The passengers can easily avail the facility of currency exchange
through bureaux de change. There are ATMs and also a post
office to facilitate the passenger with the process of money
transaction.
Eating and drinking:
The airport has been very well planned with proper arrangements
for refreshments that can be easily brought from the numerous
cafeterias within the airport. There are bars and restaurants,
a fast-food outlet, an ice cream parlor and a cafeteria. Eight
cafés and four restaurants are situated in the Costa
Blanca Plaza.
Shopping:
The airport provides the tourist with a sweet shopping experience
wherein the passengers can buy gifts and souvenirs from shops.
The shops include newsagents, tobacconists, gift and jewellery
shops, a music store, bakery, sports and shoe shops, CD and
video store, and three duty-free shops.
Parking:
There is a huge car parking which can accommodate 2000 cars.
It is located opposite the terminal. The parking rates are
1.05 Euro for each hour or part of an hour up to 6.95 Euro
for each 24 hours.
Other facilities:
To make the travelli8ng experience a total hassle free one
the airport is also furnished with a counter for the complaints
of lost property. Each and every kind of assistance is provided
by the staff of the airport to its passengers. There is a
24-hour first aid service and a pharmacy. There is a VIP Lounge
on Departures level 1, which offers the facility of phone,
fax, photocopying and Internet access for business class passengers.
Disabled Facilities:
There is a specific section outside the terminal building
for disabled passengers. There are also special parking spaces
for disabled passengers in the airport car park opposite the
terminal building. The airport is equipped with lifts, ramps
and special toilets for the disabled. The passengers can easily
benefit and get proper assistance regarding wheel chairs on
request prior to traveling.
